What is meant by googly in cricket?
"Googly" is the term used in cricket for deliveries bowled by leg spinners, that comes into right handed batsman.
Leg spinners, as the name suggests, are the bowlers who spin the ball away from right handed batsman, from leg to off, but googlies turn opposite, from off to leg. The spin is not prodigious as default leg spinner deliveries but to fox the batsman, just a slight inward movement is enough. In fact, straighter ones that goes in line are dificult too cause batters expect balls to turn in one way.
In Australia, googly is also termed as "The Wrong'un". The opposite delivery bowled by offspinners is called Doosra, which has driven the name Wrong'un for Googly.
